When it comes to treating or managing a yeast overgrowth, there are two basic schools of thought: Medications from a physician, such as Nystatin and others, which are all basically anti-fungal in nature, and the natural approach, which involves the use of herbal extracts and some nutrients.
The biggest problem with both of these approaches is that they do not effectively address yeast or candida overgrowth once it has become systemic. The medications also have some potentially significant side effects if take for too long a period. Most of them cannot reach the candida organism if it is outside the digestive or urinary tract. The herbal approach, using such things as garlic extract, and immune boosting nutrients are most often too little too late if the yeast has been allowed to travel to outlying areas of the body. This is also due to the fact that their action is primarily relegated to the digestive system.
It is very important to establish whether or not your candida situation is localized or systemic. If the later, the only effective way we have found in over 30 years is the use of oxygen elevating supplements. Since the organism is basically anaerobic in nature, thriving in oxygen poor environments, raising the oxygen level of soft tissues repeatedly has shown to be the best and safest way of eliminating the organism throughout the body. Since oxygen readily crosses the blood/brain barrier, brain fog and symptoms of poor memory related to candida are also addressed.
